SUMMER SCHEDULE 2007

WOMEN ONLY BACKPACK June 15 to 17. This is a beginning/intermediate backpack trip. We'll head up Devil's Slide trail 2.5 miles to Saddle Junction and then another mile to our camp at Chinquapino, near Taquitz Peak. We'll hike the peak and possibly hike along the Pacific Crest Trail, with magnificent views of the desert and the Salton Sea. Educational topics covered are Leave No Trace, selecting a campsite, setting up camp, some map and compass, filtering water, tying knots, finding animal tracks, and more. Before the trip we'll meet and discuss what to bring, what not to bring, what and how to pack, meals, etc. Cost will be $225. Transportation provided for first 5 to sign up. There is room for 10 participants. If more than 7 participants, we'll have an additional guide. You may choose to meet at the trailhead, but a Wilderness Pass is required to park there.
I will be presenting a clinic on "Women in the Wilderness" beginning June 4 at Adventure 16. Check their website for specifics. Adventure 16 Hope to see you at one of the clinics.

WOMEN ONLY KAYAK and SURVIVAL CAMP Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29, 2007. Join us for an exciting educational and fun filled learning experience at San Elijo State Beach. You'll learn to (or hone your skills at) surf and sea kayaking. Survival skills taught will include map and compass; water do's and don'ts; wind/waves/current; safety on land and the in water; environmental issues, current; gear essentials. Take part in empowering, fun, and sometimes challenging activities (all challenges are by "choice"). We practice Leave No Trace Principles. Provide your own kayak (receive $50 discount; boat must be seaworthy) or use one of ours. Tents provided (or you may use your own). Meals and water included, along with some snacks. You'll also receive a goodie bag and a group picture. All park and other fees included. This promises to be a rewarding and empowering weekend. Our focus is on women specific issues, but men are welcome. Cost: $285

Gear up for summer camps Kids camps ages 8 to 12 offered by us through the City of Carlsbad Carlsbad residents program.

Teen beach kayak surf camps
Recommended ages 12 and 16 offered by us as concessionnaire for the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation at both Carlsbad State Beach and San Elijo State Beach. Join us for an exciting educational and fun filled learning experience at San Elijo State Beach. You'll learn to (or hone your skills at) surf and sea kayaking. Survival skills taught will include map and compass; water do's and don'ts; wind/waves/current; safety on land and the in water; environmental issues, current; gear essentials. Take part in empowering, fun, and sometimes challenging activities (all challenges are by "choice"). We practice Leave No Trace Principles. Provide your own kayak (receive $50 discount - boat must be seaworthy) or use one of ours. Tents provided (or you may use your own). Meals and water included, along with some snacks. The teen camps are Tuesday through Thursday, with 2 overnights. Cost: $285 for complete package or $100 per single day.

Cost: $45.00 per person per session (if you have your own boat you'll receive a discount...$10 with no instruction; $35 with instruction) Minimum age: 12 (some exceptions made with guardian in attendance, dependent on individual skill level and weather conditions)

We are also offering Kayak and Yoga sessions at Agua Hedionda Lagoon. Call for Summer schedule.

JUNE 10, 2007 Learn to Kayak - KAYAK ESSENTIALS - ACA CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Purpose: The ACA Introduction to Kayak Course is designed as a short program emphasizing safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisition for entry level individuals. You will receive an ACA certificate upon completion

This course is appropriate for all kayak craft, including traditional decked kayaks, inflatables, and sit-on-tops. It is assumed the boats will be paddled solo. You may take a $25 discount off the cost of the course for using your own craft, but must sign a waiver stating that your craft is seaworthy. The main craft used by Guided Adventures In Nature is a sit-on-top kayak. There is the opportunity to experiment with a sit-inside kayak (or decked boat) owned by GAIN.

Length of Class: 6 to 8 hours (limited to 12 individuals)
Cost of Course: $105.00

AUGUST ACTIVITIES August 10 to 15, 2007 Backpack - Sierras. Call for more information, pricing and dates. Cost: $450. Includes t ransportation. Room for 5 participants. Group: Both men and women.
SEPTEMBER 13 to 15, 2007 Half Dome 3 days, 2 nights. Call for more information. Cost $250. Includes transportation for up to five persons. If you travel with us, you'll be splitting hotel cost on night of 12th. Option is to meet at visitor center.

OCTOBER 2007 Grand Canyon Backpack 4 days, 3 nights. Call for more information.


CPR/AED/First Aid ACTIVITIES. Call to Schedule:
1st Aid ($45.00) and CPR ($45.00 to $70). Take both classes on the same day and receive a discount. American Heart Association.

Half-day hikes are in and around beautiful Carlsbad and Oceanside, with your effort level being mostly easy to intermediate, with an occasional strenuous hike. Full day and weekend hikes are classified as easy to strenuous, as are the multi-day backpack trips. Beginners in good physical condition are invited to participate in all trips.
